Annotation: This article examines the role of needs analysis in the implementation of artificial intelligence in teaching English as a foreign language. It emphasizes that AI tools should not be introduced into the educational process formally or simply because of their popularity. Their use should be based on the real needs of teachers and students. Needs analysis helps determine the level of readiness, identify knowledge gaps, select appropriate tools, and mitigate risks related to academic integrity, data protection, and overreliance on technology.
