Annotation: This article examines the formation of gender attitudes, gender identity, and the influence of peers during adolescence. Adolescence (ages 11–16) is a crucial stage in personality development, marked by physical, psychological, and social changes. Research shows that key aspects of gender identity—gendered self-categorization, gender typicality, gender contentedness, gender conformity, and gendered intergroup bias—are shaped during adolescence under the influence of peers, family, and society. Peer interactions and social environments play a significant role in adopting and conforming to gender norms. Biological, social, and cultural factors jointly influence the development of gender attitudes. The article also highlights the importance of educational environments that promote gender equality and awareness of stereotypes, which significantly impact adolescents’ social and psychological development.
