Annotation: Cultural and traditional norms play a significant role in determining the role and legal status of women in Pakistani society. These norms have historically developed inextricably linked to local customs, religious interpretations, colonial-era social institutions, and a patriarchal social structure. As a result, women's social activity, participation in public life, and access to state-provided social protection mechanisms are severely limited.
