Author: Otamurodov, Mamurjon

Annotation: This article analyzes the People's Republic of China's security interests in Afghanistan in the context of the Xinjiang factor and transnational threats. The study examines Afghanistan's place in China's security strategy, the activities of extremist groups such as ETIM/TIP, the Taliban government's security commitments, and the impact of transnational terrorist networks such as ISKP, al-Qaeda, and TTP on regional stability. The article argues that China's policy toward Afghanistan is shaped by a combination of cautious pragmatism, border security, counterterrorism, and geoeconomic interests. Furthermore, the stability of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is considered a key security factor shaping China's foreign policy toward Afghanistan. The study utilizes historical analysis, comparative analysis, content analysis, discourse analysis, and a systems approach. The article's findings demonstrate that China's interests in Afghanistan are closely linked to internal security, regional stability, transportation and communications projects, and the security of the Belt and Road Initiative. The article substantiates the need to study Sino-Afghan relations in relation to the security environment in Central Asia.
