Annotation: This paper examines the impact of operating obsolete trucks on atmospheric air, soil, water bodies, vegetation, and the acoustic environment. Particular attention is paid to long-service diesel trucks, as they account for a significant share of nitrogen oxide, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, and greenhouse gas emissions in many transport systems. The environmental hazards of an older truck fleet are determined not only by the vehicle's year of manufacture but also by the technical condition of the engine, fuel quality, the serviceability of the vehicle's fuel system, catalytic converter, and diesel particulate filter, as well as the operating mode. The paper also systematizes the main mechanisms by which obsolete trucks impact the environment, identifies factors that increase emissions during long-term operation, and formulates organizational and technical measures to mitigate these negative impacts.

Keywords: maintenance, routine repairs, obsolete truck, diesel emissions, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, environmental safety, technical operation, particulate filter, transport ecology.
