It is shown that their study in Turkic linguistics initially emerged within ethnolinguistic research. In later stages, their place within the phraseological system was defined. The author provides a comparative analysis of studies conducted in different periods. The significance of phytomorphic phraseologisms in reflecting national culture and worldview is revealed. Special attention is paid to their imagery and expressiveness. Examples from Turkic languages are presented in the article.
