Annotation: The article provides a comparative assessment of water resources management efficiency in water-scarce countries. The experiences of Iran, Turkmenistan, Jordan and Iraq are analysed in terms of water abstraction control, irrigation losses, economic incentives and institutional management constraints. The experiences of Israel, Australia, Morocco and Kazakhstan are examined with a focus on water accounting, reuse, digital monitoring, infrastructure modernisation and economic management mechanisms. Based on the comparative results, priority directions for Uzbekistan include digital water accounting, linking water-saving technologies with actual water limits, and evaluating water productivity through economic indicators.
