Annotation: This article analyzes the role of sports terms in expressing national mentality based on a linguocultural approach. The study examines sports-related realia and lacunae as important linguistic units that reflect national culture, worldview, social values, and communicative traditions. In particular, a comparative analysis is conducted on the semantic, pragmatic, and linguocultural features of sports terminology in English and Uzbek languages, with special reference to football vocabulary.
