Annotation: This study investigated selected indicators of cellular and humoral immunity in healthy children and in children frequently affected by acute respiratory infections (ARI) and pneumonia. The research was conducted among children living in the environmentally unfavorable Aral Sea region, with consideration of age-related characteristics. Comparative analysis revealed that even apparently healthy children demonstrated relatively reduced immune parameters, while frequently ill children showed a significant decrease in T- and B-lymphocyte counts, reduced neutrophil phagocytic activity, and decreased IgG levels accompanied by increased IgM concentrations. These findings indicate functional insufficiency of the immune system associated with adverse environmental factors and chronic antigenic stimulation.
