Annotation: This article examines the literary power and artistic significance power and value of word in the Timurnameh by Abdullah Hatifi, a poet of the 15th century. The Timurnameh is a rich poetic story of victory, intertwined with historical motifs, which also reflects Hatifi's views on words and their power. Like many medieval poets, he equates the poet's word with precious stones. Hatifi compares the poet's work of transforming word into poetry to that of a jeweler. He views word as the most precious gift, a symbol of power, and, most importantly, a divine object descending from the heavens—that is, from God. The examples and conclusions examined demonstrate that Hatifi demonstrated a critical approach to the work of poets who preceded him, even incorporating ironic allusions into some of his poems. His work, "Timurname," is a literary and historical legacy in which Hatifi accurately expresses the value of words, demonstrates his belief in their power, and transforms a great story of heroism into poetry, harnessing the artistic power of language.
