Annotation: This research systematically analyzes the transition from a traditional formal-structural approach to a modern functional-pragmatic paradigm in teaching passive constructions, using English and Uzbek as case studies. The relevance of this study stems from the observation that while language learners thoroughly master the morphological and syntactic patterns of passive sentences, they frequently commit critical pragmatic errors when applying them in real-world speech contexts, particularly in academic writing, diplomatic discourse, and official communication. The article demonstrates that passive constructions are not merely transformational rules (Active→Passive) but strategic linguistic tools emerging from contextual requirements.
