Annotation: This article provides a comprehensive historical analysis of the land and water nationalization policy implemented in Uzbekistan during 1927–1929. The study examines the causes of this agrarian reform, its political and economic objectives, as well as the mechanisms of its implementation on a scientific basis. Furthermore, it explores the impact of transferring land and water resources into state ownership on the social structure, peasant households, and agricultural production. The article also evaluates the short-term and long-term consequences of the nationalization policy, including the establishment of social equality, the transformation of property relations, and its role in laying the foundation for forced collectivization, based on historical evidence. The findings demonstrate that this process had a complex and contradictory nature.
