Annotation: This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of hydropower plants (HPPs) in the Republic of Uzbekistan, their functional role within the national energy system, and their technical and operational capabilities. The study examines the installed capacities of HPPs, their cascade-based distribution, ongoing modernization processes, and their contribution to the national energy balance. Particular attention is given to the advantages of hydropower as a renewable energy source, the importance of efficient utilization of available water-energy resources, and the economic and environmental benefits of the sector. The article also highlights the strategic significance of future hydropower projects, their role in strengthening energy security, and their potential contribution to the country’s sustainable development.
