Annotation: The functional styles of the Uzbek literary language, their formation factors, classification and social functions are highlighted. The functional styles are formed within the framework of the general lexical, grammatical and syntactic system of the language and are inextricably linked with the social activities and communication needs of people. The differences between language and speech styles, their relationship and views on this issue in linguistic literature are analyzed.
