Annotation: This article covers the historical development, modern trends and practical experience of using digital technologies in teaching English in the higher education system of Uzbekistan. It also emphasizes the increase in the effectiveness of language teaching on the example of digital education policy, legislative changes in the Republic of Uzbekistan and modern technological tools introduced in higher education institutions. The article highlights the advantages of multimodal and interactive approaches based on the opinions of foreign and local researchers.
