Annotation: This article examines the definitions of the terms linguistics and poetics, as well as the scientific research and views of several linguist scholars who have conducted studies in these fields. The development and evolution of the term “linguistics” in ancient times are explained in detail. At the same time, its role and significance in modern Uzbek linguistics are highlighted.
