Annotation: This scientific article examines the basic principles that shape Indian moral thinking, including the interdependence of life, the concept of dharma (moral duty), the doctrine of karma (cause and effect), the pursuit of freedom (moksha or nirvana), and the principle of non-violence (ahimsa). Based on canonical texts such as the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Jain Sutras and Dhammapada, as well as interpretations by prominent scholars, this study explores how these principles influence moral decision-making and maintain relevance for contemporary debates on ethics. The results of the study show that Indian ethics provides a holistic and eternal perspective on a virtuous life, paying special attention to personal discipline, social responsibility, and spiritual elevation.
