Annotation: This article analyzes the territorial dispute between Japan and South Korea over the Dokdo/Takeshima Islands. The article analyzes the historical claims as the causes of the conflict, historical and legal approaches to the issue of territorial sovereignty. The strategic and geographical location of the islands is considered. It also discusses the possibilities, plans and prospects for resolving this issue.
