Annotation: This article analyzes the content and essence of the concepts of religion and freethinking, as well as their role in the development of society. Special attention is given to the interrelation between freedom of conscience, religious tolerance, and the principles of secularism. The study highlights the impact of religion on social life, human thinking, and the formation of independent thought. It also examines the significance of these concepts in a modern democratic society. The article is based on the scientific views of both local and foreign scholars.
