Annotation: This article analyzes the pedagogical significance, effective methods and practical results of developing reading competence in primary school students. During the study, methods were used to develop students' interest in reading, comprehension and analysis of the text. The results confirmed that interactive methods and independent reading activities have a positive effect on the development of reading competence.
