Annotation: This article discusses the issues of forming and developing independent thinking competence in primary school students. Pedagogical and psychological factors influencing the development of independent thinking in the educational process are analyzed. The importance of modern pedagogical technologies, extracurricular activities, information and communication tools, as well as cooperation with parents in developing students’ thinking is substantiated. The article scientifically highlights the role of independent thinking in personal development and in increasing the effectiveness of education.
