Annotation: The article explores the features of how nominal words can function as verbs in modern Chinese. Using examples such as tiěliàn (铁链), zhōngbiǎo (钟表), xiàoshēng (笑声), yánjiū (研究), fāxiàn (发现), huā (花), tóu (头), pà (怕), and hèn (恨), the study demonstrates how a single word can change its syntactic role depending on context. This linguistic flexibility reflects the analytic nature of the Chinese language, where meaning is determined not by morphology but by usage in discourse. The research draws on the works of Chinese and Russian linguists, as well as modern dictionaries and language corpora. The findings show that the transition of words between grammatical categories enhances the expressiveness and dynamism of Chinese grammar.
