Author: Fayzullayev, Aziz Husan o‘g‘li

Annotation: The article presents a comparative analysis of the foreign policy of the Taliban movement during its first period (1994–2001) and its second period (beginning in 2021). The study examines the movement's shift from the doctrine of isolationism in the first period to an approach of "selective pragmatism" in the second, as well as the interconnection between this transformation and regional and global geopolitical changes. Relations with Uzbekistan are a particular focus, as they most clearly illustrate the changes in the Taliban's policy regarding Central Asia.

Keywords: Taliban, foreign policy, Afghanistan, Islamic Emirate, Uzbekistan, Central Asia, diplomatic recognition, selective pragmatism, Doha process, Qosh-Tepa Canal, Trans-Afghan Railway, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Termez Dialogue.
