Annotation: This article analyzes the role of adverbs in general linguistics and discusses their theoretical and practical interpretations. The morphological and grammatical features, semantic groups, and syntactic functions of adverbs are comparatively studied in Uzbek, English, and Chinese. The views of various scholars—from Aristotle to modern linguists such as Jespersen, Bloomfield, and Halliday, as well as Uzbek linguists G. Abdurahmonov, M. Asqarova, and Chinese linguists Lü Shuxiang, Zhou Youguang, Hashimoto, and Hashimova—are examined. Through comparative analysis, the common and distinctive features of adverbs in different languages are revealed. The findings of the article highlight the theoretical and practical significance of adverbs for language learners.
