Annotation: The study examines the diplomatic interactions between Uzbekistan and China by highlighting the intersection of symbolic diplomacy and strategic pragmatism. The originality of this research lies in the proposal of a novel conceptual framework—the “symbolic–pragmatic negotiation model,” which unites symbolic aspects with pragmatic considerations. It further explores the role of mianzi (face), ceremonial protocol, and pragmatic interests within Chinese negotiation traditions, using Uzbekistan–China diplomatic practice as an illustrative example. The findings suggest that this model provides both theoretical insight and practical guidance for consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries.
