LEXICAL CHANGE FROM A TYPOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE: THE "JIAN(薦)" AND "XIANG(享)" SYSTEM OF PRE-QIN CHINESE IN ITS HISTORICAL AND STRUCTURAL DIMENSIONS(詞彙演變的類型學視角:論先秦漢語“薦享”系統的源流與結構)

Author: Tian, Rui

Annotation: This study analyzes the "Jian-Xiang" (薦享) sacrificial lexicon from the Shang to the Warring States periods. Findings reveal that while the terms remained conceptually distinct, their constituent elements varied significantly across time and subsystems. Element semantics evolved dynamically, influenced by shifts in the broader lexical system. This case study exemplifies the systematic nature of vocabulary change.

Keywords: The words "Jian and Xiang", vocabulary system, diachronic evolution, synchronic relationship, Ancient Chinese, lexical change, typological perspective, systematic nature of vocabulary
