Annotation: This article examines the artistic world of the contemporary Chinese writer Peng Xuejun, a notable figure in modern Chinese children’s and young adult literature. The analysis covers biography, key works, thematic and stylistic features, awards and the author's place in the literary field of the 20th–21st centuries. Special attention is given to the educational function of her prose and the interaction of tradition with contemporary social topics.
