Annotation: The article analyzes the philosophical foundations of the integration between Western and Eastern thought using the socio-cultural views of C. Montesquieu and M. Behbudi as an example. Their ideas about modernization, freedom, enlightenment, and development are re-examined in a modern philosophical context and the possibilities of their application to the processes of social modernization in contemporary Uzbek society are shown.
