Annotation: Proverbs and sayings are part of folk culture, the essence of language and people's way of life, the concentration of experience and traditional knowledge. Gender studies is a developing field in the humanities and social sciences today, and it is an area of research that scientists are extremely concerned about. Gender discrimination exists in almost all languages of the world, with the exception of Russian and Chinese. While expressing wisdom, proverbs and sayings may inadvertently convey the concept of gender discrimination. Their brief and subtle characteristics make the expression of gender discrimination more hidden and far-reaching. Discrimination against women in Russian and Chinese proverbs and sayings includes many aspects. This article mainly examines discrimination against women, embodied in Russian and Chinese proverbs and sayings, in terms of appearance and character, marital status and family roles. By studying the phenomenon of gender discrimination in Russian and Chinese proverbs and sayings, we can better understand the cultural connotations that these two languages carry, deepen our understanding of gender discrimination, and thus prepare to combat gender discrimination on an ideological level.
