Annotation: Color words occupy an important position in the vocabulary system of any language. This paper explores the positive symbolic meanings implied in six basic color words, namely red,black,white,yellow,green and blue by citing a large number of authentic corpora from ancient and mordern Chinese.It is hoped that this study will be beneficial to language contrastive research and Chinese culture teaching for foreign learners.
